From Runescape News and Updates - 3rd February 2004 - Important windows update



Microsoft has released a new critical Windows update called 'Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1'. This fixes a very important security hole with Internet-explorer which could be exploited by scammers to create convincing scam websites, that appear to be runescape.com but actually steal your password. It is therefore very important that everyone makes it a priority to download this Windows update. We would recommend you go to www.windowsupdate.com and click the 'Scan for updates' link. You can then find the update within the 'critical updates and service packs' section.


We would also highly recommend that you ensure you have downloaded and installed ALL of the critical updates for Windows as they all fix very important security flaws with the Windows operating system.

Medal System added to RuneHQ forum. We now have the ability to award medals to people we feel deserve a medal for doing something that needs recognized.



Image Uploader updated to allow you to upload multiple images. We are currently working on the ability to delete multiple images to make it easier for you to clean things up.



The Sig Makers' Guild is hosting their first ever sig drive! Visit the Need A Signature board for details.



We are also going to be adding Several new styles to the forum in the near future, we will keep you updated on these once we add them.

Runescape News



From Runescape News and Updates - 21st January 2004 - More RS2 Updates



Today we have uploaded a number of updates for Runescape 2.


These include:


Map areas


We have uploaded more of Kandarin, including the east side of East Ardougne, Hemenster and Port Khazard.



New Runescape 2 area - Rangers' Guild


New to Runscape 2 - just east of Hemenster comes the Rangers' Guild, complete with new shops, a training area and an archery target mini game.



3 quests and a mini game

We have now uploaded the Hero's quest, Tribal totem , the fishing competition and the trawler mini game.



Sound effects


We have started to add various sound effects to the game, expect more to be added over time as well as some adjustments to the ones we have already added.



Make over mage


For those who want their skin colour and gender changing - the make over mage has now been added to the game.



Market stalls


The Ardougne thieving market stalls are uploaded



Bug fixes include:



Fixed: The runecrafting symbol on the skills menu looked wrong

Fixed: The nature rune island in the wilderness only had 1 nature rune per stack


Fixed: One stack of nature runes couldn't be telegrabbed


Fixed: The dramen staff seemed to be a warhammer


Fixed: If a player was holding one stackable weapon and they poisoned it they would get 5 poisoned weapons


Fixed: Putting items on tables could sometimes cause them to become stuck


Fixed: Players could walk though scenary and get stuck in the Lumberyard area

We still need Runescape 2 Quest Guide and Skill Guide Updates. We need info on any new items and new features in Runescape 2. Please submit any data you have.



We would like to send out a great big thanks to E-Razor for his dedication and commitment to the site. The Runescape 2 Map is a great addition and is a very good quality map.
Also both E-Razor and The Flow have released new versions of their world switchers. Be sure to check them out, they are a great benefit to all who want to be able to switch worlds easier. These programs just take advantage of links you yourself could have saved as favorites or links on your desktop, so we feel they are not cheats. I doubt Jagex could even detect them based on how they work, but if you are worried about Jagex's view on them, you will have to ask them.



I am also evaluating another version made by Kryptix and if I feel it is safe, I will put it up on the server for others to use if they want. His is a simple version and does not include Maps and a lot of other things that the other two switchers do. I know his reputation and his storied past, but I feel he is at least trying to change and I am willing to give him a chance to prove himself. I have scanned the program with Norton Antivirus, and I have run spybot on my machine and neither has detected any keylogger or virus. We like to give you choices and provide you with everything you need to succeed when playing the game most of us love and are addicted too.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately...



We need Runescape 2 info! World Map, Wilderness Map, City Maps, Dungeon Maps, Mining Maps, Quest Guides, Skill Guides, etc. I am going to be checking with Jagex, but if I get thier ok, We will be holding another contest for submitting info and the grand prize will be a years members on Runescape, with 2nd place and 3rd place being shorter memberships, and several other prizes being Runescape Items. I still have to get this ok'd, but I wanted to give you a heads up as to what we have planned for the very near future. Even if we can't get Jagex's ok, we still need this info, so please try to start gathering it. Runescape 2 still has a lot of work before its released and we know some data may change and new things will be added, but we can deal with the changes when they occur. We feel it is far enough along now to start gathering this information and provide it so we can help out our fellow Runescape players.



We have reworked the image uploader and put a link on the forum for all to use. All pictures were copied to your new folder that uses your forum username and userid. If your pictures are not working, it's probably because they were moved to this new folder format. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Runescape 2:



Jagex recently added Hair and clothing makeovers, Running, Auto retaliate on/off, Emote animations, along with several Bug fixes. Go to Runescape Website and click on the News and updates link to check it out.



Runescape:



2nd January 2004 - More cheating scum banned - Jagex recently banned 957 users for using autominers, macro programs and scripts that took advantage of the game. Don't be the next one on their list! The also listed the top 100 cheaters they banned, so if your curious and want to check it out Go to Runescape Website and click on the News and updates link.



A change was made to the trading screens to help address Trading scams.

To help you out, we have just made some changes to the confirm screen to make the amounts more obvious. Amounts are now coloured coded, seperated with commas, and written in both words and numbers! This will hopefully make the above scam much less effective, but you should still be careful.

Due to peoples ability to alter images easily on scapeboard and orcplanet, images hosted on those two free hosting sites are not allowed to be used on RuneHQ. Images found hosted there will be deleted immeadiately without question. Sigs can be uploaded to RuneHQ by pm'ing any mod or an admin. We have plenty of drive space and bandwidth, so we would prefer all images are hosted on RuneHQ server and not some other site we have no control over.
