The following is a direct quote from the Runescape.com news and updates from Wednesday, May 5th:
5th May 2004 - Bigger Banks & Treasure Trails
Bigger bank space
As promised we have now increased the size of your bank accounts. We have increased the size of both free and members banks by 25%. So free users get another 12 slots and members get another 48.
Treasure trails
Today we have released treasure trails into RuneScape. Various npcs on members servers will now sometimes drop random clues. Each clue points to the location of another random clue. Solve enough clues (and maybe face one or two other challenges) and you will eventually find treasure, which could be anything from food or weapons to various rare items which can only be found on treasure trails.
Stronger monsters will tend to drop harder clues which will tend to lead towards more valuable treasure. Be warned the hardest clues are very tricky indeed.
You can't be on more than one treasure trail at once. If you have a clue, npcs won't drop more clues until you solve the trail you are on, or you abandon the trail by dropping your current clue.
Good luck and happy treasure hunting!
Faster herblaw secondary ingredients respawns.
Various players have pointed out to us the spawn rate of certain herblaw ingredients had slowed down. So we have sped them up. You should be able to get your snape grass, white berries and jangerberries nice and quickly.

New Quest Guides & Port Khazard Mining Map - Graphical Design Crew
2004-04-25The RuneHQ Sig Makers Guild has been officially renamed to Graphical Design Crew.
This was done to eliminate the confusion that the SMG was just about making signatures for people. That is completely wrong, because the SMG was of course created to help people with the entire field of graphics, from signatures to avatars, emoticons to wallpapers, tutorials to downloadable styles, etc etc.
Also, the Graphical Design Crew would like to officially release it's website:
http://grafxcrew.runehq.com
We encourage everybody to check it out as you will find several useful things and it will be updated frequently.
~ Monkeychris, Vypre, and the rest of the GDC.

This is a direct quote from Runescape.com :
22nd April 2004 - Last chance to move items
We are planning on removing the RS-Classic to RuneScape item-transferal page tomorrow (on Friday 23rd-Apr) As we've said previously we don't want to keep the two games permanently linked, because doing so limits the potential of our new game engine.
We are instead going to run them as two separate games, which don't affect each other. In particular we want to increase the amount of bank space RuneScape players have, but can't do this whilst the bank system is still attached to the old RS-Classic bank system.
Therefore this is just a quick warning that today is your last chance to move items from RS-Classic to RuneScape.
22nd April 2004 - Completion of systems upgrade
Scheduled maintenance - 22nd-Apr-04:
Runescape, Rs-classic, and sections of our website were temporarily offline this afternoon whilst we complete the database upgrade we started last week. We apologise for the inconvenience.
Update: This maintenance work has now been successfully completed, the game & website should be back online and working normally now.
Thanks
The Jagex Team

Enchantable Rings!
2004-04-20The following is a direct quote from the runescape.com news and updates from Tuesday, April 20:
Members may now enchant your rings.
Just use the enchanting spells which you used on your amulets to give your rings the following exciting new abilitys.
- lvl 7 - Enchanted Sapphire Ring - Ring of Recoil
- lvl 27 - Enchanted Emerald Ring - Ring of Dueling
- lvl 49 - Enchanted Ruby Ring - Ring of Forging
- lvl 57 - Enchanted Diamond Ring - Ring of Life
- lvl 68 - Enchanted Dragonstone Ring - Ring of Wealth
Deals 10% of the damage inflicted on the wearer back at their attacker. (After 40 damage has been dealt in this way the Ring is destroyed.)
When activated it teleports the wearer to the Duel Arena. (8 uses and then the Ring is destroyed, has the same restrictions as the teleport spells ie doesn't work past level 20 wilderness etc)
Increases the chance of succesfully smelting Iron Ore. (100% success rate, 140 uses.)
When the wearer takes damage which causes their hits to falls below 10%, but which doesn't actually kill them, they are automatically teleported to Lumbridge and the ring is destroyed. (Has the same restrictions as the amulet of glory teleports ie doesn't work past level 30 wilderness, doesn't work in the duelling arena etc)
The wearer has a greater chance of getting a rare item drop when they kill a monster.
Other changes:
Many players commented that stringing bows gave less than half the xp that it did in Runescape classic. We have now changed this so stringing bows now gives the same xp that it used to.
We have also put in the warning to players when entering the widerness
