RuneHQ 6th Birthday Bash
2009-10-01RuneHQ October Birthday Bash
As many of you already know, Roklykthat and Stormys_Amazon just returned from our EPIC trip to Jagex. What a terrific way to start off our month-long Birthday Celebration. We have a full-month of events, activities, games, prizes, and even a few surprises for you, so be sure that you are a registered member of our forums so that you can take full advantage of our 6th Birthday!
Our events start off on October 1st with a visit to the Sorceress's Garden and will continue daily through the month to our final event on October 31. We have a calendar with a listing of each day's event(s), and they will also be announced on our forums. Not all events will have prizes, but we will be handing out a variety of prizes throughout the month. Please note that to win any prize, you must be registered on our forums. This will allow us to contact you for permissions and so that we can get any necessary information from you so we can ship your prize.
You can only win once during the month, so anyone who wins multiple times, will receive only one prize and the runner-up for the event will then be awarded the prize. RuneHQ will cover all shipping of the prizes (if any are involved). If you have any questions, please contact Stormys_Amazon via the forum PM system.
Just a few of the things we have going on this month include:
- Free to play events
- Pay to play events
- Both safe and unsafe events - for some events, you can lose you items, so please be aware of this before joining us for the event
- Both PMods and/or JMods will be in attendance at most events, so come to meet them and ask questions if you do not want to participate in the event itself
- There will be clan chats posted for each event, so be on the lookout as they will change
- There will be several spontaneous events, so be sure to keep an eye on the Twitter feed as well as in the Birthday Events forum
- There will be various competitions and special events for the RHQ Radio, Clans, IRC, Ventrilo, as well as forum activities
Most events will be held based on the following time schedules, BUT PLEASE CHECK FOR THE SPECIFIC EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ANY CHANGES. We will be throwing in some times that fit our Austrailian members, so be sure to check each specific event.
- 2pm CDT AND 8pm CDT (USA Central)
- 7pm GMT AND 1am GMT (Universal Time)
- 8pm BST AND 2am BST (UK)

RuneHQ September Event #4
2009-09-21RuneHQ September Event #4 - Masters of Brimhaven
For our final event this month and in the spirit of bringing some more high level events to our members, we are going to top, if you can believe it, the Invasion of Taverley Dungeon event. This time, we are having an Invasion of the Brimhaven Dungeon event on Karamja, aptly titled, the Dungeon of Death. This dungeon contains multiple creatures of instant death in some cases if you are not properly attired, so be warned. This is not for the faint-hearted. You can die here, so if you are not a very high level, make sure you stay in a group of people for safety.
With creatures ranging from Moss giants to various Dragons (rising from level 131 to 246) and Black demons (level 172), this will prove the making of many adventurers. To gain access to the Brimhaven Dungeon, you will need a hatchet and 875 coins in your inventory. The entrance to the dungeon can be found southwest of the house portal in Brimhaven.

RuneHQ September Event 2 and 3
2009-09-14RuneHQ September Event #2 and #3
For our two main events this month, we are bringing back an old favorite that you will all know as the Chase. This time, there will be a slight difference to the format. Instead of trying to find the Events Team/Staff member, your job will be to work out the name of an NPC and find them instead. Once there, an Events Team or Staff member will give you an item to hold on to and a clue as to the next NPC to find. Once you find all seven NPC's, you will be given a clue to the final destination where you will use the Caller bag that you get from Faruq to announce the items you are carrying to your team members. Simple, right?
There will be prizes for the first team (consisting of three members), awarded at the end of the month. Prizes will be chosen by RuneHQ and will be awarded randomly to the winners. TO WIN YOU MUST HAVE A TEAM OF 3, AND ALL MEMBERS OF THE TEAM MUST BE REGISTERED ON THE FORUMS.
The rules for the event are as follows:
- All contestants must obtain Racing boots from Faruq in Al Kharid before the event starts.
- Everyone must meet and start the race at the designated starting point on time or they will not be allowed to take part in or win the event. You must be in a team of three team members to participate.
- You can use teleport equipment, potions, rings, or anything else that may help you get around faster.
- You must use the Calling bag before obtaining the next item so that the team member knows if you are carrying anything.
So, breaking it down, you need to do the following:
- Obtain the above items above from Faruq.
- Be at the start point on time for the first clue.
- Work you way around all of the NPC's collecting items.
- Use the Calling bag with the team member at each NPC.
- Make you way to the final destination.

RuneHQ September Event #1
2009-09-07RuneHQ September Event #1
Hello all you Happy RuneHQer's. Welcome to our first event for September. We are going to be ending the month with a colossal task for you so we have decided to take it easy up till that point.
For this month's first event, Zingeh wants to let you know that we'll be bringing you back to the days of your very first RuneScape experiences. Have you ever missed those days where you used to go around RuneScape killing cows, chopping willow trees, fishing, firemaking, smithing, mining, and more? Well then, this event will remind you of those days that have long since passed. To accomplish this, we are holding an event in the town that everybody once called home, at least once in their playing career - Lumbridge.
With multiple spots to fish and woodcut, and with the water altar nearby, there will be plenty of options to entertain yourself. From cutting yew trees, to trying to revenge your past deaths at the hands of those sneaky goblins, if you can't find something enjoyable to do, we'll give you a full refund (of 0 gp).
So, whether your a relatively new player, or a more experienced one who hasn't visited Lumbridge ever since the Ents stopped breaking your hatchets on a regular basis, be sure to attend this tribute to the town that started you off on the right foot. We'll see you there.
To take part in the nearby skills, you will need the following:
Woodcutting: A suitable hatchet for the tree(s) you want to cut.
Mining: A suitable pickaxe for the ore(s) you want to mine.
Runecrafting: Rune essence and the correct Talisman. (Fire and Water altars are nearby)
Firemaking: A Tinderbox and logs.
Magic: Items to cast low/high alchemy on, as well as Fire and Nature runes.
Smithing: Items to smith or smelt.
Fishing: Appropriate fishing gear for what you will fish for.
Cooking: Any raw food and/or baking ingredients
Crafting: Coins, Knife, Chisel, Needle and Thread (Depending on what you're crafting).
Remember: There also is a tanner nearby in Al-Kharid that you can pay to tan your Cow hides. You can also gather Eggs, Buckets of milk, Feathers, etc. You can also kill the nearby creatures such as Giant rats and Goblins, while also burying their bones to gain Prayer experience.
Now for the main points.
- Event: Skill and Chill
- Date: Saturday, September 12th
- Times:
- 2pm CDT September 12th (USA Central)
- 7pm GMT September 12th (Universal Time)
- 8pm BST September 12th (UK)
- 9pm CEST September 12th (Central Europe)
- 5am AEST September 13th (Australia)
(Time Converter) , (Countdown Clock) - World: 55 (F2P)

Site Improvements - Continued
2009-08-13Site Improvements - Continued
Thanks to the continued work of our dedicated Site Coders, we've been continuously fixing both site and forum bugs, along with working steadily on several new projects.
RuneHQ Radio
The RuneHQ Radio has slowly but steadily been in the process of receiving a complete overhaul. The first of two changes have been introduced already which include a twitter feed at the bottom of the radio page and a change to the look of the radios (along with the speed at which the songs update). Keep your eyes peeled on the Radio for more updates in the near future.
User Control Panel
We recently added a User Control Panel (UCP) to the site in order to help you keep all settings in one easy to find location (it's in the left/top menu). In this UCP, we have added a new option to remove the large right menu lists in the P I M Databases. If you have a slow internet connection, or think that the right sidebar is too long, you can remove it and save time browsing the databases! We will continue adding options to this menu as more customizations become available.
Future Updates
We have many updates still to come including something to enhance your RuneHQ Birthday experience this year. There are also a few major new projects in the works that I can't even discuss yet! We'll of course be continuing to fix any other bugs that crop up as we're dedicated to providing you the best RuneHQ experience we possibly can.

RuneHQ August Event #1
2009-08-06RuneHQ August Event #1
Hi folks and welcome to our first event for the month of August. Last month we helped you to make runes, now we want you to use them.
To get you into the idea of combat this month we are starting with a mild option that will help you to raise your Magic experience for the main battles ahead. To do this, we will be heading east to the Mage Training Arena. So get your magic gear ready and prepare to follow in the footsteps of young master Potter, as we practice our mage skill to defeat the evil creatures we shall face in the upcoming battle later this month.
Whatever you do, don't be a slacker, train hard and then fight hard. We don't want to be adding your name to the list of the fallen now, do we?
This is NOT a safe minigame, as like the duel arena, you can and will die. Fortunately for you though, you won't lose your items.
So here's the all important details.
- Event: Mage Training
- Date: P2P: Saturday, 8th August
- Time:
- 2pm CDT August 8th(USA Central)
- 7pm GMT August 8th(Universal Time)
- 8pm BST August 8th (UK)
- 9pm CEST August 8th (Central Europe)
- 5am AEST August 9th (Australia)
(Time Converter) , (Countdown Clock)
- World: 60 (P2P)
- Meeting Place: Mage Arena (Hospital Area).
- Clan Chat:
- Items Needed: Any Magic Clothes, Runes, Elemental Staffs, Progress hat (if you have been here before).
- Important Note: Before doing anything, you have to talk to the Entrance Guardian to receive a Progress Hat, with which you can enter the four different training areas.
We strongly advise you to check out Mage Arena guide before playing.

MechHQ Released!
2009-08-03MechHQ Released!
In anticipation of Jagex releasing Mechscape, we have been putting together a site to support it. Today we are excited to announce our new site, www.mechhq.net!!
Most of what we have now is speculation, however as soon as the game is released we will be in game and gathering content to make a site that is awesome and contains the most information it can as quickly as possible.
Keeping in mind that MechScape is geared toward a more adult player base, anyone who lists their age as under 13 will be denied access to the MechScapeHQ forums. The rules there will also be geared toward a more mature player base and will be more relaxed than those on the RuneHQ forums.
The new site is just in the creation stage, and we will be updating, revising, and changing things until the game release when we will all jump in to play and get information on the site. We will welcome ideas and conversation on the forums and would love to hear your speculations about MechScape.
We can't wait to see you there!
Interview With Paul
2009-07-28Interview With Paul

RuneHQ July Event #3
2009-07-14RuneHQ July Event #3
You know, we never get to stop for a breather in the events team, always running events then planing then running then meetings then planning then running again! Phew, what Month is it? Ah that's right It's still July.
Okay here is what we have in store for our next event.
Well, this month, we decided to reach into our secret pouch of past ideas. Unfortunately, it seems that somebody stole our pouch and decided to use it for runecrafting, since we found some rune essence in there. But instead of simply giving up, we decided to listen to the wise old pouch, whose old crackled voice said "It's time for RuneHQ to do a bit of runecrafting." And that's exactly what we are going to do. You have to listen to the hat you know, it would be like ignoring the placing hat in Harry Potter, unthinkable.
So how are we going to get you all to enjoy training runecrafting then?
Giving away a massive amount of genie lamps? Nope.
Paying a visit to the Great Orb Project? Nah.
Running around like a massive swarm of angry locusts? That's right!
We are simply going to train runecrafting the old fashion way, but on a much larger scale. But the best part is, you will finally be able to craft runes you don't even have the requirements for. Why is that? Members of our Events Team and other staff will be located at almost every altar across Runescape, ready to assist you. So start mining your rune essence, repair your pouches, recharge your glory amulets, and get ready to summon your terrorbirds.
RuneHQ is coming to an altar near you, be there or be square.
Now for the really impooooortant bit.
