2004-11-02RuneHQ Dynamic Signatures
RuneHQ is now providing dynamic RuneScape signatures for all members registered in our forums. You can create your dynamic signature here. Please remember you must be logged into the forums to access this page.
This will pull scores from Runescape high scores and update our database here on the site and then create an image for you to use. This is the dynamic part of it. If your stats change, the image will not automatically update. You must again click on the stats edit link above to update our database and recreate the image. This is done this way to prevent a massive load on the server.
There is a couple of issues we need to point out here.
1. You can use your own background, but it must be a png file, no bigger than 30k, and also the placement of the skills cannot change from our provided images. This script puts the skills in exactly the same location, no matter what the background is, so therefore the background must line up with where we place the skills and not vica-versa. This custom backgound will also be needed every time you update your sig. We let you upload your background, create the stats image for you and then delete your uploaded background. You can get a PSD file of the backgrounds from out downloads page if you have photoshop.
2. Skills below 30 or ones not on the Runescape high scores table for viewing, will not show up and will need to be manually entered by you when you edit your stats, also, quest points is not obtainable on runescape high scores so that field will always need to be manually entered by you based on your Quest Points

2nd November 2004 - The Fremennik Trials
The council would like to inform our citizens that our recent restoration work on the footpath leading to the Barbarian town of Rellekka, North-west of Sinclair Mansion, has now been completed.
Those traders and adventurers who have been seeking access to this (slightly backwards) region of RuneScape may now do so using the provided footbridge.
The council would also like to make it's citizens aware that this large barbarian town has its own laws and customs, and those seeking fortune in these strange lands may be required to first prove their worth in The Fremennik Trials.
Site News, New Links Added and Runescape News
2004-11-01We have determined that the site forum is causing our server performance problems. Due to this, we have made a decision to switch to Invision Power Board for our forum software. We will be converting the current forum database over to the new forum, so people will not have to re-register. When we do this update, the forum will be unavailable for approximately 24 hours while we make this transition. Please stay tuned, we will announce when this transition will occur, but it should be relatively soon. The new forum will have almost all the current forum features with absolutely no modifications needed. We hope this will improve the site performance. We will continue to strive to make this the best help site for the game we all love!
We have had several people email us about guides and maps on this site. You are not allowed to take things from this site and display them on other web sites, even if it is for your own personal use. This is a copyright violation and will not be allowed. You may, however download content from RuneHQ onto your pc for personal use. As long as that work is not shared with any other web site, we do not have an issue with this. If you are worried about us shutting down and want to save things from the site for your own use, then by all means please do. Please note however, we are NOT shutting down and we will come after anyone who violates our copyright!
We as you may have noticed have added a couple links to the main menu above:
RPG-Market - This is a trading site that will allow you to trade/buy or sell your Runescape items for Runescape money or items.
Bits and Bytes - This is a Runescape help site that has Awesome Dynamic Sigs available and Really Awesome Calculators. We are working on a partnership deal with them to allow RuneHQ to use thier dynamic sig and calculators and for them to use info from our site to make theirs better. Stay tuned as we work on this and we will update you as the story unfolds.

1st November 2004 - Saradomin Preaches
Curious players looking for enlightenment in their daily training will be pleased to know that the ever popular deity of honour and goodness Saradomin has returned once more to spread his wisdom amongst his followers in Letters 26.
As always, players wishing to hear what the lord of order has to say for himself, and wishing to contemplate his words for a deeper truth, will find his latest letters to his followers enscribed for posterity in the ever-expanding Library of Varrock.
Grand Tree Wallpaper
2004-10-27The following quotation was taken directly from Runescape.com
The Grand Tree Wallpaper
Whilst recuperating from one of his usual unexplained accidents, and browsing through his book collection in the Library of Varrock, the venerable librarian Reldo discovered a much worn drawing of The Grand Tree nestled between two books.
With forward thinking not usually associated with occupants of the royal castle, Reldo elected to copy the drawing and turn it into a wallhanging that he could sell to the world to offset some his (rather large) medical expenses.
Unfortunately for him, he forgot to charge for it! If you visit the Extra Files section of the website you can grab yourself a copy of this fine piece of art.
We would also like to remind players that it is recommended to only download such files from our website, as malicious players or sites may try and send you modified files that contain malware.

RuneHQ News and Latest Runescape Updates
2004-10-26RuneHQ News.
First of all, thanks everyone for the support and donations. This will help for the next few months’ bills. This does not mean however the site is going to stay around forever. We have gotten too big and this site is costing too much for us to support on our own for a consistent amount of time. We cannot and will not keep the site up without your continued support.
With that being said, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT EMAIL US or POST on the FORUM YOUR SUPPORT IDEAS OR HOSTING COMPANIES! Sorry, but at least 80-90 % of you have no clue what it takes to host this site. We cannot run on cheap servers and free web hosting. The server requirements of this site dictate a server that is more expensive and with better hardware than we currently have but we can't afford it. You are only showing your intelligence and not helping by sending us bogus hosting companies that offer so called UNLIMITED anything, there is no such thing! We know what we are doing and your so called cheap hosting company is a crock of something we won't discuss.
Also, for those asking if you can take our guides and host them elsewhere, the answer is NO!, this is a copyright violation and we will not tolerate it. The content of this site is copyrighted by Jagex and RuneHQ and we will not allow it to be copied without our permission, and that permission has NEVER been granted to anyone, nor will it ever be.
In conclusion, RuneHQ is not shutting down, at least not for the moment, but this is dependent on you all, as long as we get support from you folks to help offset the costs of the site, then we will stay around, when the funds dry up, and stop coming in, the site will cease to exist. So as you see, if you want RuneHQ to stay online forever, then you are the one that is in control of that, not us. We hate asking for money, it goes against our principles. We funded this site for a year now out of our own pocket, and we would like to continue that, but the site has just gotten too big and is using too much resources for us to be able to realistically afford it on our own. We do ask and require that anyone under the age of 18 get your parents permission PRIOR to donating. Thanks

Quite a few changes in this update, they certainly sound interesting...
The following quotation was taken directly from Runescape.com
Extra Clues and Clue Rewards
We have introduced more clues into the mix of random clues. Those who know most of the answers will now have new challenges.
Due to the bigger variety of clues, we have also added some new treasure trail rewards for people to find.
Happy treasure hunting!
The Flamtaer Hammer
We have introduced a new hammer into the game which should help you with your temple building in Mort'ton.
This can be bought from Razmire for 10,000 coins.
You'll need slightly less people to build your temples if you have the hammer. You will still need a team, and that team can still be smaller if you have a higher crafting level, but the numbers of people you need at lower levels will be less.
This we hope will address problems we may have in the future, when the update isn't so new and less people will be in the area because they are trying out other new updates.
We have also changed the rewards you get from the chests in this area.
Amongst other things there has been a small increase in the chance of getting cloth.
Mage Armour Revamped
Players have fed back that the mage armour wasn't looking particularily magey or powerful looking. Therefore the wizards have given it a bit of nip and a tuck, and they hope you like their changes.
Music Looping
We now have an extra button on the music interface. Click the loop button, and the tune you are listening to will start again when it ends.
Potion Emptying
Potions now have a right click "empty" option on them, so if you need the vials you don't have to spend a long time drinking potions to empty them.

New Quest Guide and Runescape News
2004-10-18I have posted the new Shades Of Mort'ton Quest Guide, created by corbear007 and leaderofdarkness.
You can view it here.
_______________________________________________________________________
The following quotation is directly taken from Runescape.com:
Shades Of Mort'ton
Mort Myre's south border has been breached, and a path towards a strange town called Mort'ton has been found.
Strangers return from such visits with tales of the "afflicted", and shadowy creatures who jealously guard their tomb treasure.
Amongst these stories is the rumour of a pagan temple, Flamtaer, whose remains lie north of the town itself; does this ancient ruined construction hold the key to this shadowy conundrum?
Find out in the Shades of Mort'ton Quest!
New Mage Armour
There's a new arrival in the Wizards Tower, and he's wearing some very strange new armour. Splitbark Armour is a new armour for Magic users; can you find all the pieces to get a set yourself?
Visit the Wizards Tower to learn more!
Have a great day,
Weezy
Thanks, Your support is appreciated.
2004-10-16First off, let me say thanks to a wonderful community we have here. I have received tons of email offering to help. We have also received some more donations and a few emails of people offering support. We have also seen tons of emails asking us to stay up and telling us how much they love the site.
It makes me feel all warm inside knowing how much people love this site and want it to stay around. We will try our best to not let you folks down. Weezy and I are playing Runescape a lot more now than we have in the recent past and we are trying to get back into the site a little more, but we still don't come on as much as we should or need to to make sure things are ran the way we like. The staff here is on autopilot and most of the admins and mods we have left are doing a bang up job at keeping things going, but they need more help than we are giving them.
If you have emailed me offering support either coding or financially, don't worry, I will eventually get back to everyone when I have time. Like I said I have tons of emails, so it may take me a few days to weed through them all. Especially since I work third (graveyard) shift and have a lot going on at the moment. If you don't hear from me by the end of next week, then please don't hesitate to email us again.
RuneHQ will stay open for 2 more months
2004-10-13We have had enough support from users to keep the website open for 2 more months, so we have removed the ads.
Stormy and I have decided that December will be our last month running RuneHQ. We have enjoyed the past year as we love helping as many people as we can, unfortunately we could never find enough help to keep the site updated the way we would like and have also lost interest in running the site due to other interests.
We are not selling the site and will keep the domain. Down the road if we can save up enough money to re-open the site and keep it going for months, we may do so.
We will still be holding the party this Saturday to celebrate the birthday of RuneHQ and we hope to see lots of you there. Thank you for your support and dedication to help keep RuneHQ one of the top Runescape help sites out there.
Lets make the best of these last 2 months!

The return of Guthix
2004-10-11The following quotation was taken directly from Runescape.com:
The return of Guthix
Fans of the ever-enigmatic nature deity known as Guthix will be ecstatic to hear that he has returned once again to answer some of our players letters in Letters 25.
Those players curious to know what secrets and portents might have been revealed in this latest edition of the letters should, as usual, make their way immediately to the Library of Varrock and see what wisdom might be contained within...

RuneHQ Turns 1!
2004-10-09RuneHQ turns 1 year old this week and to celebrate we are holding a Birthday Party next weekend to celebrate!
For more details, please visit the forum post located here.
~*~Weezy~*~
But that's not all!
To celebrate the RuneHQ Anniversary, the RuneHQ Newspaper has taken the liberty to make the October Issue a combination of both a Halloween edition and an Anniversary edtion.
Until you decide what you will dress up as, what parties you will go to, which route you will take when you go trick or treating, do read this month's paper to keep you busy. Maybe some of our music will inspire you.
In celebration of this holiday, this edition is jam packed with great music not only from banjo, but also from the group, Midnight Syndicate and their Born of the Night CD. This month, we not only have the music all together in the Music section, but you will find a few of the songs here and there in the paper.
We have more of stories you love and some new ones as well. The more from you guys, the better. In addition to the stories, we have articles including October Facts, Monsters, an Interview and the continuing, Writing Series: Writing Horror. This one is on the source of horror including acts and villains.
Our interactive games include a Halloween themed crossword puzzle and a ghost maze.
We have a lot of great pictures found in Humor, including someone who seems to have lost his head…
Thank you to all who contributed and all who helped with the paper!

Re-Submitted Vocabulary Guide!
2004-10-04
I have re-entered an edited version of the Vocabulary Guide for all to use. Since obviously it is a good guide to have around, and no-one would have noticed it in the Runescape Classic Special Reports section, I have put in an updated version here.

Creditcard Signup Problems - Fixed
2004-10-03
The following quotation was taken directly from Runescape.com:
Creditcard signup problems
Our billing partner 'worldpay' who handles our creditcard transactions had some performance problems today. This unfortunately temporarily prevented users from taking out a new members subscription using credit-card. Existing members should not have been affected however.
Worldpay stated the following:
Some customers are experiencing intermittent access to our payment and administration systems. We are aware of the situation and doing our utmost to identify the issue and deal with it.
Update: Some customers are experiencing intermittent access to our payment and administration systems. We are aware of the situation and doing our utmost to identify the issue and deal with it.
I hope no one has suffered any major inconvenience.
