Increased Members Bank Size
We have given members so many new features recently, that some people's banks were getting very full. Today we have increased members bank sizes to be able to hold another 48 different items.
Troll Romance Quest
Ug loves Aga, but Aga is together with Arrg. Since Arrg is a lot stronger than Ug, Ug can't follow the regular mating ritual, which involves ripping the opponent into pieces. Will you be able to find out what will impress the troll female more than a display of violence? Will you survive the journey to help a lonely troll find love in the Troll Romance Quest?
New Chat Effects
We've added three new chat special effects into the game. You can use these by starting your sentence with shake: slide: or wave2:
For example, wave2:Hello! I'm testing out a new chat effect!

21st December 2004 - The Haunted Mine
Recent forays into Morytania by some of Saradomin's more fanatical supporters have unearthed murky rumours concerning a vast abandoned mine in the south.
Legend speaks of an unusual material, hidden in the depths of the mines, that is somehow linked to the desolation and fear that now surrounds the place. Do you have the nerve to find out more, and enter the haunted mines of Morytania?
The mine is located to the southwest of Mort'ton and there is a lot to explore there. To start the haunted mine quest speak to the zealot outside.
21st December 2004 - Santa, Flax and Castlewars
Santa visits RuneScape
Santa has come to RuneScape and he has a present for everyone! He can be found in Varrock, Falador, Ardougne, Catherby and Yanille. We're not going to say what the present is. Like all good Christmas presents that's a surprise. Santa will be around for roughly two weeks on both free and members servers, so there's lots of opportunity for people to get a present. After those two weeks Santa will leave RuneScape. Don't lose out, get your present before he goes as you won't be able to get one afterwards. Players who lose their present don't need to worry though as they will be able to get a replacement from Diango in Draynor Village.
Flax
We have now made flax easier to pick again. It no longer blocks. You can get a random number of flax from the flax plant before it disappears (It works in a similar way to the oak trees). It now regrows more than twice as quickly too.
Castle Wars Changes
Many people have pointed out to us that the rewards for Castle Wars are too easy to get. It hardly takes any time to get the tickets for a full set of Castle Wars armour. We agree, the ticket prices were too low. In actual fact it was a little too easy, and risked devaluing mithril armour for new players. To avoid unbalancing the game we have therefore changed the current decorative armour to be equivalent to steel. But don't worry, to compensate we will be putting a variety of higher level goodies to buy with your tickets, into Castle Wars next year (including decorative armour equivalent to adamant and mithril). For people who have the current castlewars armour and are wishing they'd saved their tickets for better future Castle Wars rewards, we will give them the opportunity to trade their armour back in and get their tickets back when new rewards are added.
We have been receiving reports that players are getting their own teams flag and then running up and down stairs in their own castle so people can't follow them. This makes them virtually impossible to kill and protects the flag till the end of the game. This wasn't in the spirit of the game and could lead to some very unbalanced results. To fix this, when going up and down stairs, you can no longer take your own teams flag AWAY from it's starting area.
We have now fixed it so that you can no longer take the castlewars equipment and flags out of the gaming area. We have also fixed a bug which let you be a imp, sheep or bunny outside of the gaming area. Be warned that taking advantage of a bug to remove equipment intended only for castlewars into other areas (such as the wilderness) to gain an unfair advantage there is bug abuse. If you find a bug, report it to customer support - Don't try and abuse it to your advantage. If you deliberately abuse a bug it can lead to a permanent ban (see rule 4).
21st December 2004 - New Chicago game worlds
To keep up with the ever expanding number of players we've just put another 6 game worlds online! Lots of people playing is great news as it means we can afford to put in more worlds like these, and also do bigger better updates.
This time the worlds are based in Chicago. Which is another new location for us, and should give lots more players nearby servers to use.

Changes to Castle Wars, New Wallpaper, and Updated World Map
2004-12-15Quotations Taken Directly from Runescape.com
15th December 2004 - Changes to Castle Wars
We have made a few improvements to Castle Wars today:
- You no longer need your own flag to score a point for your team, just bring the enemies flag back to your flag point! This should lead to more exciting higher scoring games.
- The yellow arrow will now point to where your opponents flag is if it's been dropped or being carried by someone.
- There is now a timer displayed in the game window while in the waiting areas showing you when the next game will start - no more trying to spot time messages in your chat window!
- Your own team will now appear green on the minimap and your opponents will appear white. This replaces the normal friends list effects in the castlewars area.
- "Attack" is now the left-click option on all your opponents, and right-click on all of your own team.
- The doors out of the respawn rooms are now "Energy Barriers", so the whole team can pass through at once.
- A few minor fixes
15th December 2004 - New Wallpaper And Updated Map
Reldo, our expert librarian, has sent a messenger to inform us of some recent discoveries he has made while cataloguing the Library of Varrock.
Luckily for players, this means we have been able to update our World Map with the locations of some mysterious hitherto unknown islands known as Ape Atoll, Miscellania, and Etceteria.
He has also sent us an artists rendition of a green dragon, which can be found in our extra files section to admire. Legend says this is actually a picture of a younger Elvarg, before consuming so many unwary adventurers...

New Calculators Available!
2004-12-14We have some new calculators available for you to use! We have been working with Runescape Bits and Bytes and have worked up a partnership with them.
They will be putting up our guides in the near future. This will give you another great place to get this information should there be problems with RuneHQ and our server. They have access to our database and permission to update things as needed to keep things in sync between the two sites. We will be assisting them in getting these set up.
We in return have obtained the code for thier Calculators for RuneHQ. They are very advanced calculators that pull back your stats from the Runescape High scores for you. We have one calculator left to get from them, the combat calc. For now the java menu that comes up when you view a RS Bits and Bytes Caclulator will link back to thier site for the combat calc. RS bits and Bytes will help us maintain our copy of thier calcs and supply us updates when they update their calcs. We have the code for these and can make minor updates to them ourselves if needed.
You can see and use these new calculators via our Calculator link above or by clicking here:

Castle Wars!
2004-12-13Quotations taken directly from Runescape.com
13th December 2004 - Castle Wars
The Castle Wars arena has opened south of Ardougne!
Saradomin and Zamorak have taken an interest and are urging their chosen teams towards victory. Who will you choose to fight for? Or will you follow the way of Guthix and help keep the balance?
Castle Wars is a combat based team game. A single game lasts 20 minutes. The Zamorakians and the Saradominists try to infiltrate each others castles, capture each others standards and take them back through enemy lines to their own base and claim a victory point for their chosen deity.
Speak to Lanthus in the Castle Wars waiting area for more information on how to play. Buy a manual off him for more information about the features and tactics you can use whilst playing.
There are no requirements to join in (apart from being a RuneScape Member), just turn up and join a side!
Additionally, the Ring of Duelling now has a new teleport option so players have to do less walking to get to the Castle Wars area.

New Monky Madness quest and other updates
2004-12-08Quotations taken directly from Runescape.com
7th December 2004 - Winter Website
There's a chill in the air, so the RuneScape website has been given a makeover to make it a little bit more seasonal.
As well as this fun change, we've also fixed a bug some of you found with the RuneScape Windows Client being closed when you didnt want it to. Download the new version here.
Lastly, we have updated our 'Benefits for Members' page - so if you're not already subscribed to the premium version of the game, you should check out on what you're missing!
7th December 2004 - More Small Changes
Throne of Miscellania has had some adjustments to the rewards for running the kingdom.
You now get slightly more maple logs for your investments.
You now can chose between getting raw fish and cooked fish.
You now don't quite get as many herbs, but as you don't get either Marrentil or Guam leaf in your selection of herbs the average value of herbs you get has increased.
Dagganoth Change
You now get messages when fighting the Dagganoth which should make it easier for colour blind people to tell what is going on
You can now get new amulets of monkey speak and monkey greegrees after having completed the Monkey Madness quest
6th December 2004 - Various Small Changes.
We have just made a new option for the Monkey Madness Quest, for people who really, really can't do sliding puzzles. For such people there is now a 'wimp-out' option, to pay a very large sum of money to get the only NPC in the game who knows the combination to do the Monkey Madness sliding puzzle for you. Obviously (if you can) it is much more worthwhile solving it yourself, but we have added this option for people who really are stumped.
I will also take the opportunity to talk about one or two little changes which have gone in today.
Most notably, the crumble undead spell was a bit underpowered before; we have now increased the amount of damage it does.
Some of the npcs will have had small adjustment and improvements to the way they look and to the way they sound when you are fighting them. Most noticably, cows are now brown and white instead of black and white.
6th December 2004 - Monkey Madness
Today we have released one of the longest and most challenging quests yet
King Narnode Shareem of the northern Gnome settlement has decided to send an envoy of the Royal Guard, the 10th squad, to oversee the decommission of the Gnome owned ship-building facilities on the eastern coast of Karamja. The 10th squad has mysteriously gone missing and it will be up to you should you decide to help, to track them down.
For full information on the quest, view the manual page on runescape.com.
3rd December 2004 - Even more worlds online!
We just put another 3 game worlds online. This time there is one extra free world, and two extra members worlds.
This gives a total 54 RuneScape worlds to choose from!
The extra space should ensure there is enough room for everyone who wants to play this weekend (our busiest time of the week) without it getting overcrowded.
Monkey Madness is here!!!!!!!
2004-12-08Hello fellow Runescape users, thanks to the work done by MuH-K0o0o, we now have the quide to the newest quest. Good luck and have fun.

DRAVANThrone of Miscellania Quest Guide added
2004-12-05Without further delay, we have finally put up the Throne of Miscellania Quest guide. Sorry it has taken so long to get this up.
You can get to it from the quest Guides link above or you can Click Here to see it.
Throne Of Miscellania
2004-11-30This is a quotation taken directly from Runescape.com
29th November 2004 - Throne Of Miscellania
One of the ships of Rellekka is setting sail for two of the former Fremennik colonies - the now independant island of Miscellania and its smaller sister island of Etceteria. These islands are said to have prospered in recent years and now have their own castles, a bank, a blacksmith and a healthy market trade in fish and vegetables. However, rumours have been coming back from Miscellania that all is not well. It is said that the king has been turned into a monster!
An exceptional hero is required to investigate. Maybe in the end there might even be the opportunity for the right person to take the reins and try to rule over the land themselves. The road to power is not a straightforward one though, experience in wooing royality and negotiating peace would be an advantage.
The residents of Miscellania Castle are widely regarded as some of the hardest workers ever seen... A well respected Monarch should have no problems in convincing his subjects to collect raw materials for "royal inspection", though gaining and maintaining that respect could prove another challenge in itself.
For the Throne of Miscellania quest you will need to have completed the Hero's Quest and The Fremennik Trials; it would be an advantage to have at least one of the following skills: 30 Mining, 35 Fishing, 35 Herblore, or 45 Woodcutting. To start, take the ship from Rellekka to Miscellania and speak to King Vargas.
PS: For those of our players who like to express themselves, there is also a new emote to enjoy called "blow kiss". We hope you like it.

RuneHQ and Internet Browsers
2004-11-28RuneHQ is written for Microsoft Internet Explorer. We support only MSIE. Sorry, but to code the site for Netscape, Firefox, Mozilla or any other browsers you care to use requires time and effort we just don't have. Some of this sites content will NOT work in other browsers!
If things don't work and you are not using MSIE or if the site does not look good on your browser that is not IE, sorry again but, we won't support your issue.
Don't complain, don't ask us to change this and learn to live with it. This decision will never ever change as long as Weezyrowe and I own this site. Due to the level of effort required and due to the fact that other browsers do not support browser standards, We REFUSE to code this site for any other browser! If you don't like this decision, then sorry, there is nothing that can be done to change our minds!
The next person to tell us about another browser and how it is better that MSIE is likely to get a firm boot in the pants! I am tired of people telling me something on the site does not work or the site looks like crap only to find out your using Netscape, Mozilla or Firefox or some other off the wall browser. IF YOU TRY TO USE ANY BROWSER OTHER THAN MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER ON RUNEHQ, YOU ARE ON YOU OWN! Message me via pm/MSN or any other message medium including email, and mention any browser other than IE and I guarentee you you will be blocked permanently from contacting me!

Forum Errors and Burthorpe Games Room
2004-11-24The main issues with the forum have been resolved. There is still a couple of cosmetic errors and a few minor corrections left, but the forum should at least function. I will be correcting the remaining problems after I get some sleep.
Invision support is also supposed to be trying to upgrade the forum once again sometime today, hopefully it will go smoother for them than it did for me.
_______________________________
The following is directly quoted from Runescape.com
Burthorpe Games Room
The Prince of Burthorpe is well known for his love of games and puzzles. The Prince has decided to open his games rooms to the public, this way he can attract the best gamers from around RuneScape!
The stairs down to the Burthorpe Games Rooms can be found in the entrance hall of the Prince's Castle in Burthorpe. There is no entrance fee and there is a bar to relax in between matches.
Currently you can play Runelink and Draughts. Draughts uses the standard rules except for: a draw is declared if no piece has been taken or promoted for forty moves. In Runelink you have to connect four runes in a row to win.
We have also made it so that you can enchant the sapphire necklace using the enchant lvl-1 Jewellery spell to give a games necklace.
Rubbing this will teleport you to the games room. The games necklace works in much the same way as the ring of duelling, as it has eight charges and will disappear when you have used all of them.
Some people may notice the fountain of heros has moved into the underground section of the hero's guild.
This is because the new games necklace teleports players near to the hero's guild. As the dragonstone amulet is a form of teleporting which uses up absolutely no player resources we didn't want it to be too quick to recharge. It is still quicker to get from the games room to the new fountain of heros than it was to get from Falador to the old fountain of heros.

Runelink is like Connect Four and Draughts is checkers

They have also added 2 new Members worlds and 5 new Freeplay worlds!
Happy Gaming!

Quotations taken directly from Runescape.com
17th November 2004 - Horror From The Deep
The Lighthouse protecting unwary ships from Kandarin's hazardous North-western coastline has recently ceased to function, and the Council have become very concerned about the potential hazard to shipping that may result from this.
The Council would therefore like any adventurers passing by the area to investigate the lighthouse and discover what has happened to the lighthouse keeper Jossik.
Local rumours of a mysterious Horror From The Deep can probably be ignored, as The Council would like to assure its citizens that there is no such thing as sea monsters.
Start point: The Lighthouse North of the Barbarian Outpost
To start: Speak to Larrissa
Quest length: Short
Minimum requirements: Level 35 agility
Be able to defeat a tough level 100 monster
Level 13 and higher magic is an advantage
Members only: Yes
17th November 2004 - World Map Updated
Ever felt lost looking for Rellekka? Don't know where to find Mort'ton? Or perhaps you just want to know where the latest quests start?
Then check out our updated World Map which now shows all the new areas we've added recently.

New Forum is now online
2004-11-08Runehq's new Invision Power Board is online! This forum should perform better and make things go a lot smoother. We want to apologize for the horrible performance we have been seeing as of late. We hope that all the issues are now behind us on that reguard.
We still have some work to do to get the move finalized, we have not moved over the dynamic sig app or some of the signatures/avatars. We will be taking care of those as we can. The now forum conversion DID NOT convert your avatars and a lot of the profile settings. You will have to reset your avatar and edit your profile to get things set up again.
Sigs may also need to be reuploaded as we did not transfer over the gallery images from the old site. You will need to save all images uploaded on the old forum and reupload them here on the new one.
We know this is a big change and some people won't like it, but we really had no choice, since the old forum was killing server performance. We all have a lot to learn about this new forum. Even the mods and admins, so please try to be patient and give it a chance. We hope it will grow on you if you don't like it initially. We plan on adding new themes now since the code is not all hacked up with modifications.
~Thanks~
~MrStomy~
Forum going down soon
2004-11-07The forum will be going down soon so we can prepare and set up the new forum that we will be using. The board may be down for a day, if not less as we are working on it.
All posts, PMs and usernames will be transfered over, so don't worry about that.
If you check down a few news posts, you will see why we are switching over to Invision Power Board.
Please have patience while we are working on this to try to make the site run more smoothly.
