19 December 2005 - Postbag from the Hedge
After a few months of looking for a lvl 2 man in the Wilderness, the RuneScape postie has returned with another sackful of letters. Perhaps he has managed to deliver yours? Find out now in the latest installment of Postbag from the Hedge.
Fascinating interviews with Wizard Traiborn and Hans can be found inside, as well as some more information regarding the elusive evil chicken (bwuk bwuk).
Don't forget, if any of you want to write to any of the NPCs in the game and ask that burning question that's been bothering you for years, write to ... if Postie Pete can find them that is...
Devious Minds
Of course, no-one likes to miss a good ceremony, least of all a certain lowly monk who will need your assistance! Will you be able to help his dreams come true? With the appearance of a strange new weapon and some Devious Minds, you may find yourself biting off more than you can chew... Head over to the temple on the River Salve and find out!
This quest features some of the highest non-combat skill requirements ever to be released into the game and requires you to have completed Doric's Quest! A strange combination you might think, but is it as strange as the quest itself? We will let you decide...
Christmas update for all players
This update is for free and member accounts - Happy Christmas!!
Diango needs help - the Pixie workers whom he hired to help in his workshop aren't working out. They're so accident prone that despite all their hard work, they're getting nothing done. Find Diango down in the Draynor market and he'll tell you where his workshop is. Once there, you'll need to put together some marionettes and paint some baubles, as well as packing them into the appropriate boxes. Talk to the local pixies for more information on what exactly to do once you're down in the workshop.
Once you've finished at least one box-load of puppets, you'll be required to drop them off at the Taverley Members' Gate, where a familiar face will be waiting for you. Completing boxes of puppets will earn you a special woolly hat! If you want to, complete more boxes for even more rewards. Different hats can be achieved by completing 1,2,4 and 8 boxes.
You can also give some boxes of baubles to Rosie, the pixie supervisor. Completed boxes will earn you a special colourful scarf! As with the puppets, more completed boxes will result in different scarves when you complete 1,2,4 or 8 boxes. Rosie has unfortunately had several problems with Imps invading the workshop and stealing all the baubles, so if you don't fancy painting them, you can always retrieve them from the Christmas imps hanging around the Varrock Xmas tree. Don't forget you'll still need to pack them in boxes before you can give them back to Rosie.
Finally, those pesky Imps have not only stolen Rosie's baubles, but all the ones from the Varrock tree too. What is it with Imps anyway? Why are they such thieves? Where do they live anyway? Can they fly? If they can teleport, how come they never drop runes when they die? Rest assured, none of those questions will be answered in this update. However, if you take 5 boxes of decorations, you can decorate the tree yourself! Those that do so will find a special marionette for them under the tree.
If you should be unfortunate enough to misplace or lose your marionette, you can get another one from the large box by the ladder to the pixie workshop. Lost scarves and hats can be retrieved from Diango himself.
Please note - The Christmas event will be removed on the 3rd of January. The hats, scarves and gift marionettes will remain for those who've taken the time to help out Diango, Rosie, the mysterious stranger and decorated the tree in Varrock. All player-made marionettes, their component pieces, baubles and boxes containing each will disappear, including the tree itself. The festive imps, the hooded stranger and Diango's hired workforce will also be moving on after another busy Christmas.

Staff MSN/AIM/Yahoo Messenger Addresses
2005-12-18The Staff of this site, especially the admins do not usually have time for idle chit chat. We are very very busy running this site. It takes a lot of our time. This is why as admins we hire staff members to handle things like modding and monitoring the forums.
We do not normally give out our MSN/AIM/Yahoo or other communication addresses to Non Site Staff. If someone gives you our information DO NOT ADD US without permission, we will block you immediately! You are NOT authorized to give out our MSN/AIM/Yahoo addresses if you are given them by us or anyone else. If you find someone giving out our info, please report them to us so we can take appropriate disciplinary actions.
Attempting to contact me on MSN if you are unauthorized will get you banned from this site. If you have an important matter that needs our attention, then post it on the forum and we will answer when we have time. If it is critically important to the safety of the site, you may pm me or any of the admin staff of the site. Pm's for unimportant issues will be deleted unanswered, sorry, but we just do not have time to waste on trivial things.
Also, if you email me at mrstormy@runehq.com, then good luck, I get 3000 emails a day and delete 99% of them without even reading them!
Do not contact us asking for help with your forums or web site, being it for modifications/administration/setup etc, We are NOT a forum/web development help site!!!
Do not contact us asking to use any of our content, the answer is and always will be NO! You cannot use our guides, maps, calcs, etc. We will take legal action and shut down any site we find stealing our content!
I am sorry we have to be this way, but the administration of a site this major requires a lot of our time and we just do not have time to interface with our users as we would like too.

12 December 2005 - Champions, Wyverns and Granite
After several years of neglect, the Champions' Guild basement has been decorated and has become home to a rather interesting bunch of pugilists, gladiators and general top-notch combatants from all over the known world. If you're really lucky, you may find that killing the weak and innocent creatures of RuneScape will end up with you being challenged to a duel by the champion of that race. Defeating that warrior will lead to good rewards, and even the possibility of bigger fights in the future. These champions do not challenge just anyone though, and it may take quite some time before they acknowledge your prowess. Do you have what it takes to take down all of these mighty fighters? Find out in the Champions' Challenge!
Deep in the dungeon where the Blurite glows...
Thurgo stumbled and fell down a hole he had never seen before... and awoke a terrifying creature of bone and ice. At first glance he thought them to be dragons... but when he tried an anti-dragon shield and narrowly escaped with major frostbite, he knew that they were not.
These Wyverns will give a chilly reception to any who dare enter the cave, so you'd best equip yourself with some elemental protection.
You'll need a Slayer level of at least 72 to fight a Skeletal Wyvern.
Just before Thurgo left the dank cave, he caught a familiar glint out of his eye... the glint of rock. Yes, rock does glint to a dwarf... especially granite.

5 December 2005 - Nardah, Tool Sheds & Spirits of the Elid
A new village has been discovered in the desert: the village of Nardah, which lies south-east of Pollnivneach. It can be reached by magic carpet from Pollnivneach, and has several useful features: the first desert bank south of the Shantay Pass, a herbalist called Zahur who will identify herbs for 200 coins each (which should be handy for people wishing to trade high-level herbs), and a choc-ice seller (who also sells some chocolate bars). Choc-ices heal health and also stop you from dehydrating as quickly in the desert, though they will sometimes melt in the heat.
Nardah also has a general store, an armourer, a set of anvils and the start of a new quest...
Spirits of the Elid
The people in the desert village of Nardah have a problem: their town well has dried up, and any water they try to bring back to the town from the river mysteriously disappears before they can get it back. The villagers suspect they have been cursed in some way. Can you unravel what is going on and save the village? If you do, you may find out some more about the gods and history of the desert people, and unlock one or two more features in Nardah.
In other news, little green leprechauns have appeared near the farming patches throughout the world. They'll look after some of your farming tools so you won't have to carry so many items when you visit the patches, storing the equipment in their magic shed. Items handed to one leprechaun may be retrieved from any other leprechaun. The leprechauns will look after one rake, seed dibber, spade, gardening trowel, watering can and secateurs as well as storing lots of empty buckets, compost and supercompost.
Behind the scenes - December
Seasonal greetings to you all!
Yet more fantastic updates in store for this month with a new desert village, expansion to the Champions' Guild, new farming leprechauns, wyverns, festive imps, a devious quest, choc ices, a new piece of granite equipment and a nice Christmas update for everybody to enjoy...
The village of Nardah has suffered a terrible curse, with the well all dried up and any water carried home evaporating before it can be drunk. Is it connected to one of Ali M's money making schemes? Has the local genie been playing tricks again? How can someone sell choc ices in the middle of the desert? Players brave enough to investigate will find more information about the desert gods and the history of this unfortunate place... providing they can track down the Spirits of the Elid.
No-one likes to miss a good ceremony, least of all a certain lowly monk who will need your assistance! Will you be able to help his dreams come true? With the appearance of a strange new weapon and some devious minds, you may find yourself biting off more than you can chew...
Down at the Asgarnia southern peninsula, Thurgo the dwarf has excavated a new passageway in the Blurite dungeon beneath his house. Local reporters from the Varrock Herald have recorded him stating "Eeeeeeeeeeek" and dropping his lantern before running off and hiding behind a big pile of pie dishes. Behind the muffled pie-filled gurgles, only a few words were discernible: "Wings", "Ice" and "BIG". Slayers of a decent level are advised to mould some elemental shields before adventuring far, as access to the tunnel will be available soon.
Also this month we will be releasing an update to the farming skill which will allow you to retrieve your tools and buckets from leprechauns near all the farming patches. Hopefully this will mean you will be able to farm without carrying a whole shed load :-) of equipment around with you.
After several years of neglect, the Champions' Guild basement is due to be decorated and will become home to a rather interesting bunch of pugilists. If you're really lucky, you may find that killing the weak and innocent creatures of RuneScape will end up with you being challenged to a duel by the champion of that race. Defeating that warrior will lead to fame and good rewards, and even the possibility of bigger fights in the future. Be prepared for a tough battle!
Finally, the preparations for Christmas celebrations will get underway later this month, with a huge tree being delivered to Varrock. You will get a chance to help out with Diango's toy workshop, as long as the pixies don't destroy everything, then decorate the tree... but watch out for imps! We all know how much they like shiny things! Great rewards lie in wait for any free players or members in the form of a woolly scarf & hat and, if they have been good, a nice new toy.

8 new worlds in Miami!
2005-11-30Quotations taken directly from Runescape.com
30 November 2005 - 8 new worlds in Miami
Due to the phenomenal number of concurrent players we have seen over the past few weeks we have put 8 new worlds online. They are located in a new Miami hosting facility. 5 of the worlds are for free players and 3 are for members only.
The "Choose best world for me feature" should include the new Miami servers when making its choice, so players in the Florida area should get a better connection to them.
Enjoy the extra space!
