1st August 2005 - 48 more bank slots for members

Due to popular demand, we've worked out a way to further increase the bank space we are able to offer to our members.

This means you can now store an extra 48 items in your bank.

1st August 2005 - Waterbirth Island

Recently travellers passing through the Fremennik Province of Rellekka have mentioned some kind of commotion happening on the nearby Waterbirth Island. The normally picturesque beauty spot seems to have been overrun by a swarm of monsters, although the distrustful Fremenniks are giving little information away to outsiders.

Those adventurers wishing to take on the challenge of a mysterious new dungeon, and possibly discover some new class-specific armours, should head immediately to Rellekka and speak to Jarvald, the new ferryman on the north-western side of town, who will provide passage to Waterbirth Island for all interested in joining the battle, whether they be a Fremennik or not.

In other news...

The Enchanted Lyre teleports to Rellekka have been slightly tweaked: offerings of raw shark will now give you 2 teleports to Rellekka before your lyre needs re-enchanting, but offerings of sea turtles and manta rays will allow you 3 or 4 teleports before you need to re-enchant your lyre.

All people with enchanted lyres before this update will have their lyre upgraded to have 2 uses automatically when they next log in.

Adventurers are reporting sightings of new random events throughout RuneScape, including armies of frogs, repentant highwaymen, freaky foresters and the world's most dangerous chicken. So keep your eyes peeled for the unexpected... Details of the new events are available in the manual.

We've also made a slight improvement to the stats of splitbark armour.

Auction Updates and New Special Report
2005-07-30
RuneHQ News

The Ogre Area Guide has been uploaded thanks to Spaz.

~Switcher

I have made some changes to the Auctions.

Coppa Members (children under 13 years of age that do not have parental permission slip signed and mailed to us), Profile Problems groups, Banned Members, and folks that have been banned from the auctions for not completing transactions can no longer use the auctions.

I have changed the default time for auctions to 30 minutes. I have also added several new options for Auction timeframes. You will see 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours, and 12 hours as new choices. I also removed 4 days, -1 week as these timeframes were too long and nobody was completing transactions.

The 1 minute and 3 minute auctions are for special events and should not really be used on a normal basis. These are too short a timeframe and will end before people see them normally. We will however hold announced quick auctions in the future and use these short auctions for specialized items.

If you see any bugs with these changes please let me know so I can fix them. We are doing our best to make the auctions better and more useable. I will be working on allowing you to edit your auctions in the near future if no bid has been placed and also add a close auction button for the auction owners so they may close their auction themselves.

New Quest - The Forgettable Tale
2005-07-26
RuneHQ News

Quotations taken directly from Runescape.com

26th July 2005 - The Forgettable Tale...

This part of the dwarf campaign features a particuarly fiendish puzzle, further development to the Red Axe storyline and yet more exciting dwarf cutscenes. This quest is a replacement for the gardening quest mentioned in the behind the scenes document earlier this month. Sadly the seeds we ordered haven't been delivered on time so we will all have to wait a few weeks to help the Queen of Varrock and her weed-ridden garden. Fortunately the Forgettable Tale which was scheduled for August is ready now, so we've still got a great update for you this week.

Other Changes

If you have completed the Recruitment Drive quest and chosen to set your respawn point to Falador, you will now go to Falador rather than Lumbridge if you are saved by a Ring of Life. Previously the Ring of Life always took players to Lumbridge regardless of their chosen respawn point.

19th July 2005 - Plague City Series Continued

At last the time has come to continue the Plague City story in this long-awaited sequel, Mourning's Ends Part 1. It seems at last Arianwyn has found a use for your skills. Talk to Eluned, the roving elf, and she will show you the way to the Elven village of Lletya where Arianwyn awaits your arrival.

For those of you who need a recap on the story so far, a chat with Elena after you start the quest would be very helpful.

New Dynamic sigs and Underbanners and Forum Theme, plus more
2005-07-17
RuneHQ News

The Crystal Weapons Guide has been uploaded thanks to Nuke-Marine.

~Switcher

We are pleased to announce a few changes and a new thing or two:

We have updated our dynamic sig. We have added Slayer, yes finally, and we added farming. We have also prepared the script for the carpentry skill when it is released. You can now select the text and shadow text colors. All combinations do not work well together however, so please try to pick colors that make your sig easy to read.

We also have two different styles, a short and wide version and a tall and narrow version. The script will save one of each version on the server and give you the link based on your style selection. You can also upload a custom background and it will save those. You can have up to 4 different sigs stored on runehq, 1 short and wide, 1 tall and narrow, 1 custom short and wide and finally 1 custom tall and narrow one.

We have added RuneHQ Rank to our sig. There is one note we want to make sure everyone notices about the rank:

RHQRank is based on your Total XP verses the Total XP of others currently in the database. It can only be entirely accurate if EVERYONE updates their signatures at the same time you do, so please do not tell us this is broke, it is Working AS DESIGNED! It is 100% accurate for you at the time you update your signature! Please disreguard what other signatures say as they are out of date!

This basically means you cannot compare your sig to what other sigs say. You can only be sure your's is correct at the time you make it. If you update it again this rank will be re-calculated based on the data in the database. This will be drastically off while people switch to the new sig!

We also have come up with an Underbanner script to create underbanners for you. http://runehq.com/RHQInn/dynamic_sig/underbannerscript.php

We have also added a new theme to the forum: Tower should now be available on your selections and we have some more to add very soon.

We also would like to apologize that things are not flowing the way we had intended for the RuneHQ quests and events wtih our corporate sponsor. We have made a decision to form our own corporation with the members of our sponsor included in this new endevor. The legal paperwork for this is taking a while to get ironed out. We hope to be wrapping that up later this week or the following week. Once that is done we will be rolling on with our plans. We know it may seem like we are dragging our feet a little, but it is not intentional. We are excited and really want to get things underway just as much as you do.

Rest assured it will be worth the wait. We are making some very serious plans for the future of this company and we hope all of you come along for the exciting and eventful ride. We are going to do our best to ensure we are your primary source for all things runescape related.

Server Outage in a few hours!
2005-07-13
RuneHQ News

There will be a brief server outtage for maintenance on 14 July 2005 at around 3:00 AM CST, which is 5 hours from the time this news post was made!

The site will be unavailable for approximately 30 minutes to an hour to move data to a new server.

We ask the you do not upload anything to the site from this point on or you run the chance of it being lost. We are moving the site to better hardware and need to copy all data from the current server to the new one in preperation for the maintenacne.

Please do not update dynamic sigs, do not upload images to the gallery, do not attach any files to posts, etc..

You can continue to use the site and post on the forum until the time of the outtage as that information goes into the database which is on another server.

The following is a direct quotation from Runescape.com.

11th July 2005 - Farming

Today we have introduced the long-awaited and much-discussed new skill for members - the Farming skill!

The Farming skill allows you to grow a wide range of resources from seed to harvest, for use in the Cooking, Herblore and Crafting skills, as well as simply growing your own food. The skill centres around a new addition to the world of RuneScape - the Farming patch. There are a number of different types of patch - vegetable, tree and herb patches being some of these - and are located right across the world map, indicated by a new spade icon. You may find that the patches are rather overgrown with weeds to start with, so keep your rake handy.

You will only see the crops you have grown yourself in the farming patches. You won't see other peoples. Otherwise the farming patches would always be full of other people's crops and you wouldn't be able to grow anything.

There are four main areas where you can get started: near Falador, Catherby, Ardougne and Port Phasmatys. There are Farming shops close by each of these areas, which stock all the tools that you will need to start cultivating your crops. If the shops run out of stock there are gardeners near these patches that you can buy some of the tools from. The gardeners are also more than pleased to give out Farming advice, being experts in their field.

We have filled the Farming skill up with many types of crop for you to grow, and details of these and their skill-level requirements can be found by clicking on the in-game skill guide, and also on the manual page.

Along with the Farming skill we have updated a number of existing skills, key among these being the new 'Brewing' section of the Cooking skill. You will find breweries in Keldagrim and Port Phasmatys where you can start fermenting your own ales. We have added a number of new types of ale that can't be bought from RuneScape's inns, all of which have their own unique side-effects.

High-level herblorists will now be able to mix extra-strong and super-strong antidotes and weapon poisons, which contain some of the more toxic plants that can be grown using the Farming skill.

You can now craft fruit baskets and vegetable sacks to carry lots of certain sorts of fruit and vegetables at once (for details see Crafting).

Using the Magic skill you can now make and enchant a new amulet of nature to help you keep track of one of your farming patches. You can only have one amulet of nature at a time.

The introduction of Farming to the civilised world has also attracted a couple of other Master Farmers, both of whom have deep pockets full of seeds and a casual disregard for strangers. The last thing we heard is that they were hanging around near Varrock and Ardougne, and being Master Farmers they're probably not too far afield from a field.

Good luck, tend to your patches, and don't get your fingers shut in the compost bin!

Other Changes

The Salute emote has been changed in response to feedback from players.

We've also made a change to the way you get milk in RuneScape. New "Dairy Cows" have been added to the various fields where there are cows. These have a left-click "Milk Dairy Cow" option, although you can use buckets on them as before.

Mining maps and Auction on the forum!!
2005-07-06
RuneHQ News

The South Ardounge, Rimmington, Lumbridge Swamp, Karamja Jungle, South-West Varrock, and East Ardounge mining maps have been updated thanks to hampster_hat and batiago.

-[Im4eversmart]-

FYI, The DB server maintenance is completed and the forum is back up.

The Auction mod has been added back to the site after some extensive overhauling. Nitr021 helped me fix it up and customize it to make it work a lot better. You can now auction off items you no longer need. There is a link to the Auctions in the forum Menu and I will be adding it to the main site menu in a few minutes.

We are also adding some new themes this week to the forums, so those of you that are tired of the same old look can now find a new favorite. We will announce them as we get them put up.

For those of you that have not read the news on the forum and were wondering about "GLIDEN GLOVES", they are not real items. They were added to the items db as a joke we were trying to pull on a friend. They do NOT exist, at least not at the moment.

Also, due to unforeseen circumstances our meeting with Ethical last week was cut short and we did not finish what we set out to accomplish. We are hopeful to get started on some of our ideas this weekend and next week. We will be rescheduling the meeting to finish up the paperwork and hash out the rest of our plans. We are hoping to make this a fun and exciting time for everyone!
